Wrap-up party!!!
When: Thursday November 26th at 5:00pm.
Where: Burnhamthorpe Library (our usual place in the programming room)
What: We're going to have pizza, talk about our memories from the year gone by and play some cooperative, VS. and multiplayer video games. Bring a friend, this party is for everyone age 12-18.

Manga Fair success!!!!

The T.A.G. group had been planning this one day "Mini-convention" style program for about three months through activities, crafts and extreame on-going events planning and cooperation.

Events ran in many cases concurrently (at the same time) as we divided the small programming room into three seperate "zones" to include as many seperate activities as possible and to appeal to multiple tastes and interests.

We had 10 volunteers the day of and those who could not attend passed on their condolences.

What was our goal exactly?
To spread manga and japan-a-culture awareness and fun to all!

Our event was an absolute huge success with over 56 attendees most of which longing to see when the next one would start!

Here's a rough schedule of what was going on (events happening concurrantly):
10 am: Set-up.
10:30 am: Cosplay documentary video and a special Manga movie screening.
11 am: Katamari Demacy, Kung-fu Panda and Naruto Free-for-all!
11:30 am: Manga Rap discussion: What's your favorite Manga Fandom?
1:00 pm: Special guest artist Jason Loo! and Jason Loo's How to Draw your own Manga comic!!!
2:30 pm: Naruto Game tournament for up to 14 players.
3pm: Manga Rap disussion: Cosplay.
4pm: Wrap-up!

We have pictures as well (Thanks to Sehar our photographer) which I'll post shortly....

Thanks so much guys what a huge success and a fantastic event idea for your library and community! You guys did a fantastic job!

Please include your comments and thoughts of the event including any ideas you have to make it an even bigger and better event in the comments area below.

More Manga Fair madness!!!!!!

So we've finalized a few details for Manga Fair.

We have an official date Saturday August 15th!

I shared some of my ideas and everyone threw around their own for publicizing the event all over to attract attention.

We've got an artist with some experience illustrating manga style art coming in named Jason Loo. He's a marvelous artist with some incredible talent and he'll be here for our Manga Fair which is great.

Lots of stuff big and little need to be done in preparation stay tuned!

I'll post more details as I have them!

March break Wii Weekend volunteers needed!

Some of you may have heard. Last TAG meeting we decided that we would have a two fun filled days of Wii gaming at the Burnhamthorpe library for March break!

The dates for the Wii March break weekend are Friday March 20th and Saturday March 21st.

We are aiming for after school on the Friday and for a few hours in the day on the Saturday. My feeling is that 5pm til 8pm on Friday is probably best and 1pm til 4pm on Saturday works. If this time doesn't work let's talk about an alternate time!

The times we choose will entirely be up to when you guys are available and if we have a good number of volunteers to help us.

The more volunteers we have for this the better it will be!

All volunteers get to play the Wii as well.

We need people to act as:
-Demonstration people (to show people how the Wii works)
-Supervisers (to maintain some order and make sure people get a turn. Make it open to everyone including library customers)
-Greeters (to tell people about what we are doing and to encourage people to have fun and join in!)

Please e-mail me back or leave a comment on the blog (at http://teensatbur.blogspot.com/) with what you want to do or what time you can come (if you can).

Thanks guys!

T.A.G Meeting January 29th 2009

Tonight's meeting featured refreshments, croissants, brownies and macaroons.

The main topic of discussion was T.A.G. for this coming year and what direction you guys think T.A.G. should take.

It seems that the T.A.G. group unanimously voted to hold a special one-time Wii Video games Tournament! Our plan is to hold it over this coming March break!

We need your help to make this happen, BIG TIME!

Katherine Sajovic won our monthly book review contest and took home two book prizes!

Our monthly book review continues next month as well.

Remember guys hand in your two to three paragraph long book review by next meeting (February 26th) and you could be featured on the Mississauga Library webpage and get all sorts of cool prizes!

Thanks guys...out!
